Helm Field Guides; Birds of Kenya &… by Dale A Zimmerman et al. Nah, this was the parking lot greeter duck at the Tree Top Restaurant in Manoa. A good friend of mine hauls 35,000 mature birds to SD each fall. I got this book from Macquarie Uni when I was studying BIOL 350: Aboriginal Impact on Australian Ecosystems with Dr Jim Kohen. Tracking is about more than just footprints. In practice, the level of comprehensiveness is very similar between the two books, with many of the additional species here separated in shorter accounts across three sections in the back on “Mountain Specialties,” “Northern Mojave Desert/Great Basin Specialties,” and “Pelagic Specialties.” This is mostly a good thing for us: similar species found outside of the main area don’t clutter and confuse, with Gambel’s Quail and Ladder-backed Woodpeckers relegated to the rear to avoid confusion with our northern California Quail and Nuttall’s Woodpeckers.
