Place these ends on the base (one at a time) on the lines you drew before. Then mark where these holes touch the base. Drill each hole about 2 inches deep in the base, using the -inch twist drill and hand drill. These holes in the base will guide in the screws. Now fasten the ends on the base with your round head screws. The screws fit through the holes in the ends and are then screwed into the base until they are in tightly. You do this by holding the screw with your left hand. With your right hand, put the bit of the screw driver blade in the screw slot and turn the entire screw driver clockwise.
Screw the nipple (threaded pipe) in the top of the circle, and the lamp socket on the thread. Separate the top portion (receptacle) of the lamp socket from the base. Thread the electric cord through the wooden portion of the lamp. Scrape the insulation off both wires at each end of the cord. Connect the wires to the socket and male plug. After your lamp has been inspected, you can test it by plugging it into the electricity. Give the entire lamp a coat of stain and then wipe dry with a rag. Apply two coats of shellac.
This will give a tight fit. Give the false bottom and both the inside and outside of the box two coats of whatever color paint you decided upon. After the paint has dried, place the false bottom in place, fill the box within ¾-inch of the top with good garden soil and you are ready to plant.
